Goran Visnjic, the star of the “Urgencies” will incarnate the Gotovina General
The star Goran Visnjic, who succeeded George Clooney in the American series “Urgencies”, will play soon the part of the Croatian General Ante Gotovina, accused of war crimes by international justice, indicated to Tuesday the Croatian realizer Antun Vrdoljak.
“I work with Goran with the project of a film on the General Ante Gotovina”, declared Mr. Vrdoljak with the local press. “Goran said to me that it wished to play the part of the Gotovina General in a full-length film”, the realizer added who did not specify when turning was going to start.
It explains to have had this idea “in the moments of the first emotional shock, in a situation known by all”. Vrdoljak referred to the arrest of Gotovina, in December 2005. Accused in 2001, by the international penal Court (TPI) for ex-Yugoslavia, of war crimes committed against the Serb ones of Croatia at the end of the Serbo-croatian conflict of 1991-1995, Gotovina was stopped in Spain, after a four year old mare, and was transferred to the TPI. He pleads not culprit. He is however considered a hero by many Croatian. “Gotovina is an absolute hero of the patriotic war. I wrote the scenario for this film because one must to this man much “, explained Mr. Vrdoljak. Born in 1972 in Croatia and grown in the town of Zadar (southern), in the area from where Gotovina is originating, Visnjic settled at the beginning of the years 1990 in Los Angeles. It gained there its galons of star of the small screen with the role of the doctor Luka Kovac, in the sixth season of the series worship “Urgencies”. In 1997, Goran Visnjic appears in its first anglophone production “Welcome to Sarajevo”, of the British realizer Michael Winterbottom.
